10 Things To Do When Laying a Wooden Floor

  1. Never install a solid wood floor in conservatory unless very special circumstance are met, ask for details.
  2. Only ever install engineered wood floors in conservatories with a primary heating source or under floor heating fitted.
  3. Always fit a moisture barrier.
  4. Always measure the humidity / temp moisture levels before acclimatisation starts.
  5. Always fit solid wood floors to wood sub floors.
  6. If there is not a wooden sub floor and you want a solid wood floor then install battens or plywood sheet.
  7. A good fitter will space the planks out properly.
  8. A good fitter will work out of two or three boxes dependant on the sizes, to make sure the floor is well balanced in terms of texture and colour.
  9. A good wood sales person will explain best practice for cleaning, and maintenance.
  10. A good company will give long guarantees on fitting as well as the product.
